Private Practice

Private Practice is the new project from Landis Wine, known for his work in Richmond bands White Laces and Opin. Built on open-tuned guitars, layered percussion, and electronic textures, it's a hazy, fried detour into pop for late nights and half-lit rooms.

“Back in January, when the East Coast got hit with a few waves of ice and snow, I sat down with an open tuning I had stumbled into on my acoustic guitar and wrote an entire batch of new material. I hadn’t attempted to do this in over a decade. It felt a little awkward, ungainly, and exposed, but I leaned into the impulse, hunkered down at my studio, and recorded it myself. Growing up in Southwestern Virginia, I spent my teenage years chasing sounds on a 4-track, which often required me to be my own band. After years of working with trusted collaborators, I let myself fall back through that portal. I lived with these jams throughout the rest of the winter, letting them get as rangy and ragged as they liked, and stopped trying to polish them. I asked Kelsey Hulvey to scream on a track and shipped the recordings to Jeff Zeigler (The War On Drugs, Cloud Nothings) to master. Now, less than seven months after the idea struck, I’m happy to present Private Practice. A polite container for messy shapes.”
