The Clean Crime Scene lives at the intersection of sweat-soaked garage rock and kaleidoscopic psychedelia. Built on distorted guitars, hook-filled melodies, and a fondness for vintage tones, the band's songs drift between gritty basement-rock swagger and cinematic dreamscapes. Echoes of classic rock, psych-pop, and garage emerge throughout the record, but rather than chasing nostalgia, the project reshapes those influences into something personal, intimate, and contemporary.
An American recording project founded by John Simek (Sparks Fly from a Kiss, The Venus Explosion). Simek reunited with longtime friends Jay Wilder (Contraption, The Venus Explosion), Ralph Nicastro (San Tropez, wreaths, Sparks Fly from a Kiss), and Colin Carhart (wreaths) to record the project's initial tracks during a family vacation in his childhood stomping grounds along the Jersey Shore. After establishing the foundation of the album, Simek returned home to Richmond, Virginia, where the project quickly evolved. His wife, Diana Simek, contributed vocals from their home studio, and Wilder along with fellow Richmond musician and conductor Will Pattie (The Fossil Collection) added additional instrumentation and sonic textures. This recording process became a tradition over the next two summers: rhythm tracks were captured live in a basement in Asbury Park, New Jersey, then brought back to Richmond for overdubs, songwriting, editing, and production.
The band creates music that feels both familiar and unpredictable. Fuzzed-out guitars, driving rhythms, layered harmonies, and dreamlike vocal melodies are balanced with a strong appreciation for classic songwriting. Influences ranging from British Invasion rock and late-60s psychedelia to 70s album-oriented rock can be heard throughout the recordings. The result is a sound that is equally comfortable delivering riff-heavy rockers, hazy psych-pop excursions, and bittersweet melodic ballads, all filtered through a distinctly modern independent spirit.

Private Practice is the new project from Landis Wine, known for his work in Richmond bands White Laces and Opin. Built on open-tuned guitars, layered percussion, and electronic textures, it's a hazy, fried detour into pop for late nights and half-lit rooms.
“Back in January, when the East Coast got hit with a few waves of ice and snow, I sat down with an open tuning I had stumbled into on my acoustic guitar and wrote an entire batch of new material. I hadn’t attempted to do this in over a decade. It felt a little awkward, ungainly, and exposed, but I leaned into the impulse, hunkered down at my studio, and recorded it myself. Growing up in Southwestern Virginia, I spent my teenage years chasing sounds on a 4-track, which often required me to be my own band. After years of working with trusted collaborators, I let myself fall back through that portal. I lived with these jams throughout the rest of the winter, letting them get as rangy and ragged as they liked, and stopped trying to polish them. I asked Kelsey Hulvey to scream on a track and shipped the recordings to Jeff Zeigler (The War On Drugs, Cloud Nothings) to master. Now, less than seven months after the idea struck, I’m happy to present Private Practice. A polite container for messy shapes.”

The Stray Lions, an indie rock band from Roanoke, Virginia, began in 2019 as the personal bedroom project of songwriter and frontman Sullivan Smith. Formerly the vocalist of the metal band Gritter (2008–2018), Ryan is working on new music, spoken works and poetry. His latest single, OH YEAH recorded under the moniker Poems For Dead People, features Blank Verse artist Charlie Glenn on guitar, and is a smoke-filled exercise in noir-pop accentuated by Kent’s signature baritone swagger.

A noir-electronic meditation on isolation and resonance, “It Is Howling Here” layers Intertitle’s moody electro soundscapes with the evocative vocals of Ryan Kent, recorded in a separate session and later woven into the track’s haunting architecture. The result is a shadowy, immersive experience that blurs the line between spoken word and sonic abstraction.
