"Horse Driver" is getting the physical treatment it probably always deserved expanded, remixed, and remastered after life as a digital-only release, the Richmond, VA psych-rock project gave its sound a physical form.
What the record, "Horse Driver," sounds like, though, is anything but precious. This is abrasive, relentless rock that falls on the noisier, lo-fi side of the spectrum rather than anything polished or considered. The energy is aggressive and unrelenting, the mix deliberately murky, the whole thing moving with a tightly reined intensity. Vocals are buried and distorted, functioning as part of the sonic fabric instead of taking center stage which, given the psych-rock framing, feels entirely intentional. The rawness isn't a flaw; it's the point. MORE
