Intertitle

Intertitle is the electronic music project of Richmond, Virginia artist, designer, and musician Morgan Slade. Since its debut in 2022, Intertitle has cultivated a distinctive sound that blends minimalist electronic architecture, atmospheric textures, and experimental production techniques. The project's first release, I, featured tracks such as Black Maria and Atelier Populaire, both recorded during an unexpected two-week hospital stay. The release was quickly followed by II, further establishing Slade's fascination with mood, repetition, and sonic exploration.

The subsequent INTERTITLE EP collected six singles recorded during the same prolific creative period. Utilizing a combination of synthesizers, analog instruments, field recordings, and mobile recording applications, the EP showcased an approach that was at once grooving, meditative, and experimental. Beyond music, Slade is an accomplished visual artist whose design work includes album artwork for Intertitle, Desert Garden, Poems For Dead People, and Tyrone Sanborn Webster. He is also the founder of Blank Verse Records and is represented by Quirk Gallery, contributing significantly to Richmond's vibrant arts and music communities.

Intertitle's latest release, "There Are Spiders In My Dreams," marks a compelling collaboration with Poems For Dead People, the literary and musical project of writer and vocalist Ryan Kent. Born from an ongoing creative partnership, the collaboration unites Kent's poetic narrative style with Slade's immersive electronic sound design. Together, the two artists explore the intersection of spoken word, dark electronic music, and atmospheric storytelling.

A darkly hypnotic meditation on isolation, repetition, and emotional distance, There Are Spiders In My Dreams expands the creative territory shared by both projects. Built around pulsating synthesizers, driving percussion, and immersive textures, the track draws inspiration from the motorik momentum of classic krautrock while maintaining the noir-inflected melancholy that defines their work. Kent's evocative vocal performance shifts between intimate confession and detached observation, weaving through analog-inspired electronics, propulsive basslines, and haunting sonic landscapes.

Rather than adhering to conventional song structures, the track unfolds gradually, creating a dreamlike atmosphere where anxiety, memory, and imagination converge.
